B.F.Sc.- Basic course details
It is a 4 years long Undergraduate Level program. The 4 years’ duration is divided into 8 semesters, with each semester lasting a period of 6 months. During each semester, a student will have to face separate sets of theoretical subjects as well as practical sessions.
B.F.Sc. course focuses on the fishing sector. It focuses on various areas of the fishing sector. For example, it uses Biology and Physical Science concepts to study fish, their ecosystem, their food habits, diseases occurring in them and breeding fish etc. Also, scientific concepts are used in stages like catching, processing, packing fish and fish products, preserving them and later transporting them to other places. The B.F.Sc. program even focuses on legal aspects related to the fishing industry as well as marketing aspects too!

Eligibility Criteria
10+2 Science stream students with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects, who have passed 12th standard board examination from a recognized board are eligible to pursue this course. Also, to take part in the admission process, students must have appeared for state level entrance examination also.

The best PG course available for B.F.Sc. Graduates is M.F.Sc.– Master of Fisheries Science. Using this PG course, Graduates may specialize in various sub branches and disciplines within Fisheries Science field!
Another option available in front of B.F.Sc. Graduates is M.B.A. program. This program will help Graduates obtain management skills and will thus help them improve their qualifications.
Scope, Salary and Job opportunities
Number of job opportunities are available for B.F.Sc. Graduates in the Government as well as Private sector. Talking about Government sector, the prime recruiters are- Fisheries Development Boards (State wise), Food Department (State wise) and Banks etc.
The Private sector offers much more job opportunities. B.F.Sc. Graduates usually get hired by Food Processing and Technology sector, Fish Breeding farms large and medium in size, Aquariums etc. Average starting salary in case of Graduates is between 2-4 Lakh Rupees per year.

Besides M.F.SC and M.B.A., are fisheries graduates not eligible for any other courses?
Anih, PG Diploma and Certificate courses are available under various names. One may pursue those.
