B. Com. stands for Bachelor of Commerce. It is a 3 years long Bachelor’s Degree program. Usually, it is the 12th Commerce stream passed students who pursue this professional course after completing their schooling. Still, even 12th Science stream and Arts stream students are technically eligible to pursue this Degree. Students who enroll in this Bachelor’s Degree program have to select a set of subjects to be pursued you need a bachelor’s degree.

Usually, in the case of a B. Com. Degree, the important topics taught during the program are- managerial subjects, accountancy, economics, law, statistics, finance, English, etc.

B. Com. Honours is a good program where the above courses are taught and at the same time, students are allowed to pursue a specialization subject in the final year of the program for a job search. In this article, I will list down the top and market-oriented specialization areas that B. Com.

B.Com. is like a foundation course for a bachelor’s degree. Based on this qualification, you may specialize in different disciplines. And when it comes to such disciplines, the better they are, the better your career prospects and salary will be!

Some specializations are newly introduced ones. So, don’t expect each and every College to offer all of the below-mentioned courses. Information Management Discipline (mentioned below) is a good example of it.

It is a relatively new entrant. It also focuses on Technology, along with concepts of Commerce. Not all Colleges are offering this discipline at the moment you need a bachelor’s degree!

  1. Hi sir. My brother finished his intermediate in MPC. However, he’s not interested in science stream. So I advised him to opt Bcom.
    Basically, he has no idea about commerce subjects. But he’s capable of doing good in them. Which branch in Bcom would be better for him and also considering the career prospects?

    • Specialization program focuses on core subjects as well as specific domain-based subjects. Which one is better – answer to this question would depend on your career goals.

    So I am in a confusion that which stream I should choose whether bcom or BBA
    If I choose bcom then which course in that is easier .
    And if I choose BBA then will it be easy for me becaz…I am lil bit weak in accounts regarding final accounts retirement of partners nd non profit organisation so….according to this accept sir can u please suggest me a course and the stream .

    • Asim, if you like Business field, you may go for management courses. Well known undergraduate courses are BBA and BMS. MBA is well known PG course.

    • Nitu, if you have required aptitude and determination, you may pursue them both. Regarding articleship, I think Industrial would be better. After completing the course, you may work at MNCs, Auditing agencies, Government organizations or work independently.

    • Premkumar, the present choice is subjects you mentioned is good. Make sure that she pursues MBA from a reputed institute. It can help a lot!

    • Sabrina, absence of mathematics may cause admission during admission (in case of some Universities/Institutes). I’d say Finance and Banking would be better.

    • Priya, regular B.Com. classes will be enough to help you bag a Banking sector job. You’ll have to clear the Banking examination though, after graduation.

    • Manu, CA would be my personal choice. Tough it is, but rewarding too! CMA certification course can be completed within 6 months to 1 year. Not knowledgeable about the fees though. It will be better if you enquire about the fees at an institute offering the course.

    • Aswini, my personal choice would be CA. Not saying that banking is bad. Career growth scope is better in the field of CA, I think.

    I am a commerce student .and nd I am interested in aviation industry.. What is your opinion about B.B.A in airline & airport management degree. Nd I can’t find a good infrastructure for this course. I did only found 2 university nd can’t find any private/ govt colleges having this course. In Kerala there are many distance centres having this course nd all this centres provide the certificate of Bharathiar University .Is it good to take this course…?/ is it good to learn from such distance centres.?

    • Tunisha, after completing the course, you will be eligible to apply for any Government job that requires the qualification of ‘Graduation in any field’. Talking about salary, it depends in the quality of the institute from which you pursue the course.
