As I mentioned before, B.Sc. Aviation course is related to the field of Aviation Science. In simple terms, Aviation science deals with the study, design and operation of flight capable machine (aircraft, helicopters, gliders etc). “What’s a flight capable machine?”, you may ask. Commercial aircraft, helicopters, gliders, jets, military aircraft etc are examples of flight capable machine. Aviation science deals with the design, development, manufacturing, maintenance and operation of flight capable machine. Aviation science professionals are trained and knowledgeable in the above mentioned areas. Since B.Sc. Aviation course covers diverse topics like design, production and operation of aircraft, it offers diverse job opportunities to graduates. Majority of students think that B.Sc. Aviation course is made for Commercial Pilot training aspirants. But it’s not true at all! B.Sc. Aviation pass-outs can don various roles, such as- mechanic (aircraft design, manufacturing and maintenance), pilot, flight attendant, air traffic controller, cargo manager and airport ground operations manager. Many flying schools in India are offering B.Sc. Aviation Degree + flying training. Under this program, commercial pilot aspirants are given flying training on one hand and are taught B.Sc. Aviation course on the other. But B.Sc. Aviation course is not limited to commercial pilot training. It is a Degree program that offers different job opportunities in the aviation sector. Type of course
It is an undergraduate level Bachelor’s Degree course.
Duration
The academic program is 3 years long. In cases of most of the institutes offering this course, the academic program is divided into six semesters. Each semester lasts for a period of 6 months.
Eligibility criteria
Students who have passed 10+2 Science stream from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects are eligible to pursue this course.
Admission
Reputed institutes follow merit based admission process. They evaluate candidates’ merit and performance through entrance test, selection interview, and/or their performance in the board exam. Deserving candidates, who manage to make it into the merit list, are allotted seats. Some institutes are also known to have seats reserved under quotas like NRI quota and donation quota.
