Are you interested in pursuing a good IT (Information Technology) course after 12th? If yes, this guide will be of help to you! Here, I’ve listed down some of the best IT courses available in India after 12th.

IT sector is known to generate lots of job opportunities in India. Though this sector is a bit volatile, it employs thousands of Graduates each year.   It is not uncommon to see IT Graduates migrating to IT hubs such as Bangalore, Pune, Gurgaon, Kochi, Chennai and Hyderabad. These IT hubs employ graduates from all corners of India!

Types of courses

In India, IT courses are available in various formats. Some of the notable formats are –

  • Certificate courses
  • Vocational training courses
  • Diploma courses
  • Bachelor’s Degree courses
  • Master’s Degree courses
  • PG Diploma courses
  • PG Certificate courses
  • PhD programs

Certificate, vocational, diploma and Bachelor’s Degree courses are UG (undergraduate) level courses. Students who have passed 10+2 are eligible to pursue this course.   Master’s Degree, PG Diploma and PG Certificate programs are PG (Postgraduate) level courses. Candidates who have completed relevant Bachelor’s Degree course are eligible to pursue these courses.   PhD is a research based Doctoral program. Candidates who have completed relevant PG course are eligible to pursue this program.   In this article, we will solely focus on IT courses after 12th. And as promised, I’ll provide the list of the best courses.   Since Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree programs are the best of the lot, I’ve mentioned them only (in my list). Certificate and vocational programs are useful too. List of IT courses after 12th

Bachelor’s Degree courses

Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Technology programs are 4 years long academic programs. Other Degree courses (like BCA and B.Sc.) are 3 years long. Integrated Engineering programs are 5 years long.   Students who have passed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics subjects from a recognized board are eligible to pursue these courses.   BBA, BA and B.Com. courses can be pursued after completing 10+2 in any stream (Arts, Commerce or Science)!   Since computer science courses are also related to IT field, you must also check out this guide – Computer science courses after 12th.

Diploma Courses

  • Diploma in Information Technology – 3 years
  • Diploma in Information Science – 3 years
  • Diploma in IT and Networking – 3 years

Diploma Engineering programs are 3 years long. Students who have completed 10th and/or 12th are eligible to pursue Diploma Engineering courses.   After completing relevant Diploma program, successful candidates may use Diploma to Degree admission and secure admission into the second academic year of B.E. or B.Tech. program.

These days, IT sector is so well evolved that it is directly or indirectly influencing the working of various other sectors and industries. IT sector acts as a supporting figure for various sectors such as healthcare, aviation, education, manufacturing sector, telecommunications sector, various Government initiatives and Departments etc.
