Polytechnic Admission in Uttarakhand 2022

Government polytechnic institutes rely on merit based admission process. In other words, if you want to secure admission into a government polytechnic institute, you must crack relevant merit based selection process.

What is merit based admission process all about, some of you may ask. Under merit based admission process, seats are distributed among deserving and eligible candidates on the basis of their position/rank in a merit list.

The merit list is prepared on the basis of candidates’ performance in relevant entrance examination/selection test/interview and/or their performance in relevant board examination. Based on the merit list, seats are distributed among deserving and eligible candidates.

Polytechnic admission process may vary from one college to another. For example, some private polytechnic colleges may carry out direct or donation based admission process. But Government institutes rely solely on merit based admission process.

Technical programs are commonly known as Diploma in Engineering programs. For example – Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma in Civil Engineering, Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Diploma in IC Engineering etc.

An engineering diploma program usually revolves around a technical subject (like mechanical, civil, electrical, CSE etc). Diploma in Engineering program is 3 years long.

A non-technical diploma program deals with non-technical subjects such as – office practice, beauty care, beauty culture, humanities, commercial practice etc.

Fees

Tuition fees depends upon factors such as – type of the course, type of the college (government or private), scholarship status of the candidate etc. On an average, a government polytechnic college may charge around 8K INR per year (tuition fees). On the other hand, depending upon the course, a private polytechnic college may charge anywhere between 35 to 45K INR per year (tuition fees).

Note: Apart from tuition fees, candidates may also have to take care of other expenses such as – hostel fees, canteen fees, student welfare fees, exam fees etc.
