Vaccines play an important role in keeping citizens of India healthy. Especially vaccines are very useful for newborns and children, since it helps them stay safe from a number of dangerous diseases. The National Institute of Biologicals is an Autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Health and Family welfare. It is a Scientific Organization that looks after the standards of the vaccines in India. In this article, I’ll discuss the educational qualifications required to apply for the post of Scientist Grade 3 in the National Institute of Biologicals.

Educational qualifications and experience-

 

A Medical

  • PG Medical Degree in the field of Microbiology/Biochemistry/Immunohaematology and Blood transfusion/Pharmacology/Bacteriology/Serology/Hematology from a Recognized University and-
  • One year experience in any of the above mentioned field after getting the Degree.

B Non Medical

  • M Sc in Microbiology/Clinical Microbiology/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/Bio-Chemistry/Bacteriology/Physiology from a Recognized University. Minimum marks criteria also exists. Minimum marks required is 60%.
  • Along with any of the above mentioned Degrees, minimum 3 years’ experience in any of the following areas is also required-

1 Quality control testing of Biologicals and Bio-therapeutics.

 

2 Review of Technical Dossiers of Biologicals and Bio-therapeutics including vaccines in respect of Chemistry manufacturing and Control, non clinical trial data and on animal pharmacology/Animal toxicology, Clinical trial data.

3 Review of Technical Dossiers of ‘In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices in respect of conformation to the essential principles of safety and performance of medical devices which include product description, Design and Manufacturing information, product performance specifications and associated validation and verification studies, labelling and regulatory history.

 

4 Evaluation and Review of adverse events: following immunization, associated with biological and bio-therapeutics, associated with blood transfusion and blood products administration, due to indirect harm associated with IVD Medical devices, management of quality system with application of ISO: 17025 and ISO: 34 with Total Quality Management approach, research in Biologicals and Bio-therapeutics.
