Nursery Level: | – |
Elementary Level: | Primary (1st to 5th grade) & Upper Primary (6th to 8th grade) |
Secondary Level: | 9th and 10th grades |
Higher Secondary/Junior College/PUC/Senior Secondary Level: | 11th and 12th grades |
Nursery level can be said to be the starting point. However, it is not uncommon to see creches and day cares occupying the first place. Nursery level is followed by elementary level. Elementary level can further be divided into two parts – Primary and Upper Primary. After elementary level comes Secondary level. Secondary level marks the arrival of an important event in a school student’s life – 10th board examination. After 10th board exam (completing secondary level) comes Higher Secondary (HS) level (11th and 12th standards). This level is also known by names like – Junior College, Senior Secondary, PUC or Intermediate. Apart from Higher Secondary schooling, 10th passed students are also eligible to join and pursue relevant professional Diploma courses! The term 10+3 usually refers to such Diploma qualification.
