Indian Coast Guard- basic details

The Indian Coast Guard is headquartered at New Delhi. There are 5 Regional Headquarters too, working under the New Delhi based Headquarter.

 

Their main aim is to enforce the Maritime Zones Act of India. They are tasked with challenges like guarding the Indian Coastal area, protecting the fishermen, helping out customs department, protecting various assets and structures present in sea etc.

 

Assistant Commandant (Technical) post details

It is a Technical Branch. The Entry in this case is an Officer Entry. Only men (unmarried) are eligible to apply for this post.

 

Educational qualifications required-

Since this is a Technical branch, BE/B Tech, the Engineering Degree, is required. There are a few select Engineering branches only, which make entry into this post possible. Those Engineering Branches are- Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics and Telecommunications/Aeronautical/Naval Architecture/Marine/Control/Design Engineering Degrees.

 

Only candidates possessing BE/B Tech Degree in any of the above mentioned branches are eligible to apply for this post. Minimum marks criteria also exists, which is- 60% marks. In case of SC/ST candidates, NCC ‘C’ Certificate (A Grade) holders, Sports person of National Level and wards of Coast Guard personnel deceased while in service, the minimum marks limit in Degree Program is relaxed by 5%.

 

Candidates are also supposed to have scored minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects during their 12th Science schooling. In case of Diploma holders, minimum 60% marks in the Diploma program is required.

 

Age limit

In case of General category students, the age limit is between 21-25 years. Relaxations are present, in case of SC/ST candidates (5 years) and OBC candidates (3 years). Before applying for this post, make sure that you satisfy the age limit criteria set by the authorities.

Medical standards

Minimum height required- 157 cm. Weight should be proportionate to height. Eyesight requirement- 6/12 and 6/36.

Yes, the registration process is online. The authorities will call up deserving candidates based on the marks scored in Degree program for further selection procedures. The selection process will be held at centers in- Mumbai/Chennai/Kolkata/Noida. Successful candidates will be called to the center that they chose while applying online.
