I’m a huge fan of Manchester City football club. And my favorite footballer is – Kevin De Bruyne. This essay is on the topic – my favorite sportsperson. Kevin is my favorite sportsperson and idol. This essay is dedicated to him.

As I mentioned before, I’m a huge fan of the EPL club – Manchester City. The English Premier League is my favorite league. It is a highly competitive and exciting football league.
Ever since I was a kid, football has been close to my heart. When I was a kid, my uncle gifted me a football. I’d kick it around the house all day long and sleep with the football on my bed. This is how my love story with football began.
Gradually, I started playing football on the streets and local park with friends. Football has helped me make good friends. With time, I even joined our local youth club. I’m not talented enough to pursue football professionally. Still, I manage to play for the local football club. We organize matches on weekends.

In short, football forms an integral part of my life. As of now, I watch and play football regularly. Due to the penetration of smartphones and the internet, following football matches, events, and news has become easier. With the tap of a button, I can catch the latest action, updates, news, transfers, etc.
As I mentioned before, Manchester City is my favorite EPL club. I’ve been supporting this club since my childhood. My favorite City player is – Kevin De Bruyne. I was very happy when my club signed the highly talented Belgian from German club Wolfsburg.
Kevin forms an integral part of the current Manchester City squad. He is the engine of the team. In the current squad, he dons the role of a midfielder. During games, he decided the tempo of the game for Manchester City. He is capable of scoring goals, providing assists, and controlling the overall pace and direction of the play.
As of now, he is still playing for my favorite club – Manchester City. At City, he has won the following major team honors – Premier League (thrice), FA Cup, Football League Cup (5 times), and FA Community Shield. In short, he is having a successful stint at the club. Last year, he even managed to take the club to the final of the Champions League.
Let us talk about his early life and career now. Kevin De Bruyne was born in Belgium. As a child, little Kevin was into football. He would kick a football around his home all day. As he grew older, he joined his hometown club KVV Drongen. He excelled at his hometown club and managed to impress coaches and staff. Gradually, he started attracting attention from representatives of bigger clubs in Belgium. With time, he joined Gent. After playing at Gent, he joined the Genk football club.
Genk had a good youth development setup. After joining their youth academy, Kevin De Bruyne improved his game at a rapid pace. Seeing his development, the club decided to draft him into the club’s first team.
He was able to demonstrate his footballing powers at Genk. This led to him attracting attention from big clubs in Europe. And this time, EPL club Chelsea came snooping and signed him up. The same season, Chelsea approved a loan deal for him. As part of the loan deal, De Bruyne joined the German club Werder Bremen.
He had a good season at the German club. He played over thirty matches for the club and scored around ten goals in all competitions for the club. The season was quite eventful for young Kevin De Bruyne.
After completing the season, he returned to his main club – Chelsea. During those days, Chelsea already had a squad full of superstars. Kevin was deemed surplus to their requirements at that time. And this led to him signing for another German club – Wolfsburg.
He managed to excel at his new club. In total, he played over fifty matches for Wolfsburg and scored around thirteen goals in all competitions for the club. He formed an integral part of Wolfsburg’s midfield and the entire squad. He used to boss the midfield, providing assists, scoring stunning long-range goals, and displaying his wide array of passing ability.
At Wolfsburg, he managed to win the following team honors – DFB Pokal and DFB Supercup. After a successful and rewarding stay at the German club, he made his comeback to the Premier League. This time, Manchester City had signed him. I was very happy when my favorite club announced this signing.
As of now, he is a fan favorite at Manchester City. He has helped the team secure many league titles, cups, and trophies. At international level, he plays for the Belgium national team. He has represented his national team at major tournaments such as – World Cup and Euro.
On the field, Kevin is a game-changer. He is capable of scoring long-range goals. His shot is powerful and accurate. He is a brilliant passer of the football. He has an impressive passing range and technique. He is a technically gifted player. He is quite good at dribbling and taking on defenders. He is often regarded as one of the best play-makers of the modern game. He has good vision and tactical awareness.
Off the field, Kevin likes to lead a simple and quiet life. He doesn’t believe in leading a flashy and lavish life. Some of his positive qualities include – the will to work hard, determination, simplicity, honesty, and discipline.
These qualities have helped him develop into a world-class player. These qualities have helped him join great clubs and win prestigious titles and trophies. Youngsters should look up to him as an idol and gain inspiration in the process.
