Last Updated on August 10, 2023 by Vishnu Nambiar

I enjoy leading a healthy life. In order to maintain my physical fitness, I play different types of sports. Among them, basketball is my favorite one.

Playing basketball is something that I enjoy. I don’t like going to the gym and working out. Instead of that, I play soccer, football, basketball, etc. Playing helps me lead an active and healthy life. It keeps my body in peak condition.

At the end of the day, basketball is not just about physical well-being and maintenance. It also helps with mental well-being. Playing basketball has made me physically and mentally strong. The game has taught me to remain calm and composed even when I’m under pressure from opponents. It has also taught me that win and loss and two sides of the same coin. One must try to enjoy a victory and learn valuable lessons from defeats.

In short, basketball is more than just a game for me. Almost all of my role models are basketball players. My current favorite sportsperson is a basketball player. He is none other than Kawhi Leonard.

Kawhi is a talented basketball player. He is one of the best players in the NBA right now. As we all know, the NBA is the best and toughest professional basketball league in the world. It takes something special to shine in this league.

And Kawhi Leonard has won the NBA Championship twice, won the NBA Finals MVP title twice, and won the NBA All-Star title five times. Just take a look at his prominent honors/awards and you’ll realize just how good he is.

His position is – Small forward. His defensive aspect of the game is excellent. He is one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA. He is capable of defending multiple positions. He is so good at defending that he is tasked with keeping an eye on the opponent’s most lethal attacker! He has everything it takes to become a great defensive player. His size is huge, he is athletic, he has good stamina and his tactical awareness is top-notch. He is good physically as well as mentally. This enables him to cover and defend as many as three positions.

As his career evolved, he decided to take on more offensive responsibility. He worked hard on offensive aspects of the game like shooting, dribbling, passing, and link-up play. As a result, he was able to develop himself into one of the best offensive players in the NBA.

Talking about offensive prowess, passing and assisting have never been his strong points. But Kawhi is a player who believes in self-improvement. He took note of this weak point and decided to work on it. As a result, he has been able to improve his passing game. Nowadays, he provides more assists each season (when compared to his career average).

Let us talk about his early life and career now. Kawhi Leonard was born in Los Angeles, California, USA. As a child, he was interested in basketball. He grew up playing the game and established himself as a star in youth team setups.

Kawhi attended Canyon Springs High School initially. Later, he got transferred to Martin Luther King High School. For his stunning performance in his high school basketball career, he was awarded the California Mr Basketball title.

He joined the San Diego State University and became an integral part of the University’s basketball team. University basketball was tougher than high school-level basketball. But Kawhi transitioned well and became an invaluable member of the college basketball team.

Let us talk about his professional career now. As of now, he is playing for the NBA side – Los Angeles Clippers. Before that, he used to play for Toronto Raptors and San Antonio Spurs.

The best thing about Kawhi Leonard is his attitude towards the game. He is one of the best defensive players in the NBA. Despite that, he decided to work on his offensive game and passing game. This helped him evolve into an offensive threat as well.

He believes in taking his performance to the next level. And for that, he is determined to leave no stone unturned. He is a hard worker. We should try to inculcate these qualities in our life too.
