1 B.V.Sc.

B.V.Sc. stands for Bachelor of Veterinary Science. It is an undergraduate level course. It is the most popular veterinary science course in India.

 

Students who have passed 12th standard with PCB subjects are eligible to pursue this course. The course duration is five years.

 

After completing this course, graduates may don the title of Veterinarian. He/she may start veterinary practice in India after attaining this Degree. Some institutes are also known to offer B.V.Sc. and AH course. AH simply stands for Animal Husbandry.

 

2 M.V.Sc.

M.V.Sc. stands for Master of Veterinary Science. It is a Master’s Degree course. Technically, it is a PG level course.

 

Candidates who have completed B.V.Sc. course are eligible to pursue this course. M.V.Sc. course is aimed at developing advanced skills and knowledge among B.V.Sc. graduates.

 

M.V.Sc. programs are available in different areas of specialization. Some such notable specialization programs include – M.V.Sc. Veterinary Microbiology, M.V.Sc. Veterinary Surgery, M.V.Sc. Veterinary Biochemistry, M.V.Sc. Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, M.V.Sc. Livestock Production and Management, M.V.Sc. 3 PG Diploma programs

As the name suggests, these are postgraduate level courses. Like M.V.Sc., these programs too allow B.V.Sc. graduates to specialize in areas such as – veterinary surgery, pharmacology, toxicology, veterinary biochemistry, genetics and breeding, livestock production and more.

 

4 PhD programs

As I mentioned before, these are Doctoral Degree programs. And Doctoral Degree courses are research based programs. Candidates who have completed M.V.Sc. or possessing equivalent qualification are eligible to go for PhD program.
