CRNA stands for Certified Registered Nurse Anaesthetic. It is a training program that focuses on the field of Anaesthesiology. Please note that pursuing this course won’t help you become an anaesthesiologist. This course can be pursued to become a Nurse anaesthetist.
Who can pursue CRNA course?
To be considered eligible to pursue this course, one must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. For Indian aspirants, B.Sc. in Nursing Degree will be enough. Apart from that, candidate should also be a Registered Nurse (RN). He/she should have at least 1 year working experience in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) or CCU (Critical Care Unit) setup.
Advantages
CRNA course can be treated like a specialty training course. It focuses on the field of anaesthesiology. Nurse anaesthetics are much more valued that regular nurses. CRNA Nurses earn more that their regular counterparts.
Course duration
May vary from one institute to another. It is generally around 2-3 years.
Career prospects
After obtaining CRNA certificate, one may work as Nurse anaesthetic in India or abroad. The main tasks of a nurse anaesthetic include- pre, intra and post operation care of patients and giving assistance to Surgeons. Usually, they work under the supervision of surgeon who is leading the surgery process.

If you are looking for a good, job oriented PG course to pursue after Nursing, CRNA course will be a good choice. But getting admission is not that easy, when it comes to this course. One must satisfy the eligibility criteria mentioned above. Further, one must also have attained good grade in Nursing Degree course.
