In simple terms, filmmaking is the process of making a film for theatrical exhibition.

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind while talking about films? Actors? Song sequences? Elaborate sets? Filmmaking is a difficult task. It involves different aspects. Actors merely portray the characters they’re handed! Behind the scenes, there’s a Director providing instructions to actors, cameraman capturing the scenes, writers who’ve prepared the script and dialogues, VFX professionals adding special effects, sound engineer adding audio effects and many other professionals working on the set! In short, there’s more to filmmaking than just acting! B.Sc. in Filmmaking course deals with the various aspects of filmmaking! Earlier, one could enter the filmmaking scene without formal education. It still is possible! All it takes is guidance, opportunity to work under someone at a film set and the willingness to learn. Many current Directors have learned the tricks of the trade by assisting other Directors in the past. At present, having formal education will prove very beneficial to aspirants. Apart from that, certain professions like Animator, Sound Specialist etc require formal education! For formal education, one can always rely on B.Sc. in Filmmaking course. Course Details
Type of course
B.Sc. in Filmmaking is an undergraduate level Bachelor of Science Degree course.
Duration
The academic program is 3 years long. Each academic year is divided into 2 semesters. In short, the entire course consists of 6 semesters! As part of assessment, students must face examination in each semester.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum educational qualification required is -10+2 passed in any stream or equivalent. Minimum aggregate marks required could be anywhere between 45-60% marks. This criteria may vary from one institute to another.
Colleges
There exists many Government and Private colleges across India offering this course. Government colleges charge relatively lower fees than their private counterparts.
Admission
Reputed institutes rely on merit based admission process. Such institutes make use of relevant entrance test to select deserving candidates. Some institutes are also known to conduct their own qualifying test in order to select deserving candidates. Some other institutes are also known to conduct direct as well as donation based admission process.
