Types of physiotherapy colleges
Physiotherapy colleges in Telangana can be broadly classified into two types –
- Government colleges.
- Private colleges.
This classification of colleges has been carried out on the basis of the entity that owns the college. Govt institutes are owned by the State or Central Government. Private colleges are owned by private charitable trusts and organizations.
Admission process
In order to secure admission into reputed institutes and Government colleges, one must crack the relevant entrance exam. When it comes to the merit-based admission process, seats are distributed among deserving candidates on the basis of their rank or position in the relevant merit list. Some colleges are also known to conduct direct and donation-based admission processes.
Top physiotherapy courses
Based on the academic level, physiotherapy courses can be classified into the following types – UG, PG, and Doctoral Degrees. Based on the format of the course, these courses can be classified into the following types – Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, PG Diploma, and Ph.D.
BPT is the most popular physiotherapy course in Telangana. It stands for Bachelor of Physiotherapy. It is an undergraduate-level course. Students who have passed 12th science with PCB subjects are eligible to pursue this course.
It is not uncommon to see 12th Science biology group students apply for BPT admission. After completing BPT, graduates may go for PG courses such as – Master of Physiotherapy and PG Diploma programs.
Career prospects
Physiotherapists are usually hired by – hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, physiotherapy centers, physical therapy centers, old age homes, etc. They may also start their own therapy center or physiotherapy clinic.
