Admission process

In order to secure admission into the above-mentioned colleges, one must crack the relevant entrance exam. Such competitive exams are carried out to facilitate merit-based admission process.

Under the merit-based admission process, seats are distributed among deserving candidates on the basis of their performance in relevant entrance exams and/or board exams.

Bachelor of Pharmacy: This is a UG-level course. Technically, it is a Bachelor’s Degree course. The academic program is 4 years long. Students who have passed the 12th Science stream are eligible to pursue this course.

Pharm D: Pharm D stands for Doctor of Pharmacy. 12th Science pass students are eligible to pursue this course. This is a UG-level academic program. The course duration is 6 years.

M.Pharm.: This is a PG-level course. Technically, it is a Master’s Degree course. Students who have completed relevant Bachelor’s Degree courses (like B.Pharm.) are eligible to pursue this course. The course duration is 2 years. M.Pharm. program can be used to specialize in sub-branches within the field of pharmacy.

Career prospects

Skilled pharmacists are usually hired by – pharmaceutical firms, pharma marketing firms, pharma R&D firms, relevant Government departments, healthcare institutes, drug stores etc. Pharmacists who possess higher academic qualifications (like a PG Degree) are also hired by pharmacy colleges and training institutes.
