MBA admission in Karnataka

The MBA admission process may vary from one institute to another. The three main modes of MBA admission are – merit-based admission process, direct admission process, and donation-based admission process.

All of the government MBA colleges and reputed private MBA colleges rely on merit-based admission processes. Under this process, seats are distributed among eligible candidates based on their rank in the relevant merit list. The merit list is formed based on candidates’ performance in an entrance examination (like CAT).

In other words, relevant management entrance exams (like CAT) are conducted to facilitate the merit-based MBA admission process. Let us talk about donation-based admission now. This mode of admission is also known as management-quota admission. A financial transaction is used in this mode of admission. Candidates seeking a management-quota seat must pay the sum set for that particular seat.

MBA Course Details

MBA stands for Master of Business Administration. It is a postgraduate-level management education program. Candidates who have completed a Bachelor’s Degree program from a recognized college/university are eligible to pursue this course. The course is two years long.

MBA program primarily deals with topics such as – principles of management, interpersonal skills, communication skills, business laws and ethics, HR management, finance management, etc. Based on the course content, an MBA program can be broadly classified into two types – a general MBA program and a specialization program.

A general MBA program deals with core management subjects (like fundamentals of management, principles, HR management, finance management, etc). On the other hand, a specialization program deals with core subjects as well as domain-specific subjects (for example – an MBA in Digital Marketing, an MBA in Banking and Finance, an MBA in Construction Management, etc).

Duration

The MBA program is 2 years long.

Eligibility criteria

The minimum educational qualification required to pursue this course is – a completed relevant Bachelor’s Degree course from a recognized college/university.

Fees

Tuition fees depend upon factors like – the rating of the college, type of college (government, aided, or private), scholarship status of the applicant, etc. On average, private MBA colleges may charge anywhere between 70-200K INR per year.
