Types of Law Colleges
The above list consists of three main types of law colleges. They are –
- Government law colleges
- Private law colleges
- Aided law colleges
The classification of colleges has been carried out based on the body that governs/operates the college. Government colleges, as the name suggests, are managed by the Government (State or Central). Private colleges are managed by private charitable trusts and organizations.
Admission process
To obtain a Government or merit seat, you must crack the relevant law entrance test. Law entrance exams are conducted at State, National, and College levels. To get into a good college, you must score well in the relevant law entrance exam.

Based on academic levels, law courses in India can be classified into the following types –

Integrated law courses: These are undergraduate-level academic programs. Students who have passed the 12th class are eligible to apply for admission. BA LL.B., BBA LL.B., BSW LL.B. – these are examples of integrated law courses.
LL.M.: It stands for Master of Law. Candidates who have completed an LL.B. or Integrated law course are eligible to pursue this course. LL.M. course can help you specialize in different disciplines within the domain of law.
