Admission process
If you want to secure admission into a good college, you must crack the relevant entrance exam. These exams are conducted at the College, State, and National levels. The main aim of such an exam is to facilitate a merit-based admission process.
Under merit merit-based admission process, seats are distributed among candidates on the basis of their performance in relevant entrance exams or board exams. Some colleges are also known to conduct direct or donation-based admission processes.
List of popular law courses
Integrated law courses: These are undergraduate-level academic programs. Students who have passed the 12th class are eligible to apply for admission. BA LL.B., BBA LL.B., BSW LL.B. – these are examples of integrated law courses.
LL.B.: It stands for Bachelor of Law. It is a Master’s Degree course. Students who have completed a Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to pursue this course.
LL.M.: It stands for Master of Law. Candidates who have completed an LL.B. or Integrated law course are eligible to pursue this course. LL.M. course can help you specialize in different disciplines within law.
Types of Law Colleges
There exist two main types of law colleges in HP – Government law colleges and private law colleges. Government institutes are managed and owned by the State or Central Government. Private institutes (also known as self-financing colleges) are owned and funded by private charitable trusts and organizations.
Career prospects
In order to become a lawyer in India, one must possess at least LL.B. Degree. One must also be registered with the relevant chapter of BCI.
