Types of Law Colleges

Law colleges in Haryana can be classified into two main types –

  • Government law colleges
  • Private law colleges

Classification of law colleges has been done on the basis of the type of entity that owns the college. For example – Govt institutes are owned by the State or Central Government. On the other hand, private colleges are owned by private charitable trusts and organizations. These colleges are also known as self-financing colleges.

LL.B.: It stands for Bachelor of Law. It is a Master’s Degree course. Students who have completed a Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to pursue this course.

Integrated law courses: These are undergraduate-level academic programs. Students who have passed 12th class are eligible to apply for admission. BA LL.B., BBA LL.B., BSW LL.B. – these are examples of integrated law courses.

LL.M.: It stands for Master of Law. Candidates who have completed LL.B. or Integrated law course are eligible to pursue this course. LL.M. course can help you specialize in different disciplines within the domain of law.

Career prospects

If you want to become a lawyer in India, you must possess the minimum educational qualification of – LL.B. Degree. After obtaining the Degree, you must register with the relevant chapter of BCI.

In order to thrive in this profession, one must possess the following details – good communication skills, confidence, positive attitude, knowledge about the legal system, reasoning and analytical skills, eye for detail etc.

  1. I passed B.A. from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in 1975 with 45% marks. I want to study LL.B. three years.
