M.E. and M.Tech. Admission in Gujarat

The admission process may vary from one college to another. The three main modes of M.E. or M.Tech. admission are – merit-based admission process, direct admission process, and donation-based admission process.

Under a merit-based admission process, seats are distributed among eligible and deserving candidates on the basis of their rank or position in a merit list. The merit list is prepared on the basis of candidates’ performance in relevant entrance test/selection exams and/or performance in Bachelor’s Degree courses.

Based on this merit list, M.E. and M.Tech. seats are allotted among candidates who satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria. In order to get into a government engineering college or a good private engineering college, one must crack merit merit-based admission process.

The direct admission process is carried out when a college has too many vacant seats at its disposal. Under this process, seats are distributed among eligible candidates on the basis of ‘first come, first served’ basis.

Donation-based admission process is also known as management-quota admission. Under this process, a financial transaction is used to secure admission into a private engineering college.

Fees

Tuition fees may vary from one college to another. M.E. and M.Tech. tuition fees depends upon factors such as – type of college (government, aided or private), rating of the college, location of the college, scholarship status of the candidate etc.

Based on these factors, private engineering colleges may charge anywhere between 50-150K INR per year. On an average, aided engineering colleges may charge anywhere between 15-25K INR per year.

M.E. and M.Tech. Course Details

M.E. stands for Master of Engineering. M.Tech. stands for Master of Technology. Both of these programs are Master’s Degree engineering education programs. In other words, these programs belong to PG (postgraduate) academic level.

The course duration is two years. Candidates who have completed relevant B.E. or B.Tech. program are eligible to pursue M.E. or M.Tech. course.

B.E. and B.Tech. are the most popular engineering programs in India. These are popular choices among 12th Science passed candidates.

After completing B.E. or B.Tech., engineering graduates have many PG courses to choose from. When it comes to further studies, M.E. or M.Tech. are quite popular options among engineering graduates.

Engineering graduates pursue M.E. or M.Tech. program to acquire in-depth knowledge on a specific branch of engineering. They may also pursue this course to specialize in a specific sub-discipline or sub-branch of an engineering domain. For example, civil engineering graduates may pursue M.Tech. Structural Engineering course to specialize in that area of civil engineering!

Duration

The course duration is two years. Each academic year is divided into two semesters. Each semester is six months long.

Eligibility criteria

The minimum educational qualification required to pursue this course is – a completed relevant B.E. or B.Tech. program from a recognized college/university.
