How to become a dentist?
In India, the minimum educational qualification required to become a dentist is – passing the BDS Degree program. If you want to pursue a BDS course, you must have passed 12th Science with PCB subjects. In order to secure admission into reputed BDS colleges, you must also crack the relevant entrance exam and score well in the board exam.
After completing the BDS course, you may start practice or go for higher studies. In short, in order to become a dentist in India, you must possess a BDS Degree.
Career prospects and nature of work
Dentistry is also known as dental or oral medicine. It is a branch of medical science. This branch of medicine deals with the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases and conditions occurring in the oral cavity.

UG stands for undergraduate level. BDS stands for Bachelor of Dental Surgery. The academic program is five years long. 12th Science (Biology) pass students are eligible to apply for admission.
