  It is evident from the above table that B.Voc. is an undergraduate level course. Technically speaking, it is a vocational training course. The academic program is three years long. The program consists of six semesters. Each semester is six months long.   Since it is an undergraduate level course, students who have passed 12th class are eligible to pursue this course. Arts, Commerce and Science, students hailing from any stream are eligible to apply for admission. Some B.Voc. courses require you to have specific stream/subjects in 12th class though.   This training program was designed and developed by the UGC. UGC has introduced this program with the aim of improving vocational education system in India. So far, our system lacked an advanced level vocational training program. Diploma, certification programs, skill diploma – these are the traditional forms of vocational courses in India.   Recently, B.Voc. program was introduced. This move has certainly improved the quality of vocational education in India. What makes B.Voc. courses so good, you may ask. Here are some notable reasons –

Entry and exit options

For ITI holders, technicians and professionals with relevant work experience, B.Voc. program offers flexible entry options. On the other hand, this program also offers the following exit options –

  1. Diploma certificate after completing one year: A student may choose to quit the program after one year and walk away with a Diploma certificate.
  2. Advanced Diploma certificate: A student may choose to quit the program after two years and walk away with an Advanced Diploma certificate.

  This means that you may quit the program in between and still walk away with a qualification/certificate. I’d suggest my readers to complete the entire program. Because it will help you gain a Bachelor’s Degree certificate.
