B.Voc.: Everything you need to know about this course format

B.Voc. stands for Bachelor of Vocation. It is an undergraduate level course. Technically speaking, it is a vocational training program. Here is a quick overview of this academic program –

  The academic program is three years long. Each academic year is divided into two semesters. Each semester lasts for a period of six months. Main/external examinations are conducted at the end of each semester.   The curriculum gives adequate importance to practical knowledge and skills. This is the main reason why you will find lots of practical sessions and lab sessions in the curriculum.   The program offers multiple entry and exit options. In cases of ITI holders, technicians and professionals with adequate work experience, entry options are diverse and relaxed. The program also offers the following exit options –

• Diploma certificate after completing one year
• Advanced diploma certificate after completing two years

  B.Voc., the course format, is relatively new. Traditionally, vocational training programs have been offered in formats such as – Diploma, certification, skill diploma etc. UGC stepped in and introduced this new format called B.Voc. This was done with the aim of further developing vocational education sector in India.   Like other vocational training programs, B.Voc. too was designed with the aim of imparting relevant skills among candidates.
