The colleges mentioned in the above list are known to offer different types of academic programs. Let us take a closer look at them –
B.Arch.: It stands for Bachelor of Architecture. It is an undergraduate level Bachelor’s Degree course. Students who have passed 12th Science with PCM subjects are eligible to apply for this course.
Diploma in Architectural Assistantship: It is a Diploma program. Students who have passed 10th class are eligible to pursue this course.
M.Arch.: It stands for Master of Architecture. It is a Master’s Degree course. Students who have completed B.Arch. are eligible to pursue this course.
These academic programs can be classified into different types on the basis of their academic level and course format. Based on the academic level, these courses can be classified into the following types – UG, PG and Doctoral Degree level.
Based on the format of the course, these courses can be classified into the following levels – Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, Diploma, PG Diploma and PhD programs. You may also check – architecture courses in India.
If you want to pursue any of the above mentioned course from a good college, you must crack relevant entrance exam. Reputed institutes rely on merit based admission process. Under this system of admission, seats are distributed among deserving candidates on the basis of their performance in relevant entrance exam.
Some colleges are also known to carry out donation based admission process. After completing a course like B.Arch. – you may don the title of ‘architect’. After possessing this Degree, you may start looking for a job.
B.Arch. graduates may even go for PG education (in the form of courses like M.Arch., PG Diploma programs, PhD programs etc). They are usually hired by – architecture firms/agencies/consultancies etc. They are also hired by construction firms, relevant Government agencies and planning agencies. Architects may even start their own architecture agency/firm/consultancy.
