UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) conducts the CDS (Combined Defence Services) exam twice a year. This exam is meant for selection of personnel into the armed forces as officers. Here, we will keep you informed about various information and updates regarding CDS exam and the results of CDS 2 exam of the year 2013.
The basic qualification for appearing for this exam is that the candidate should be a graduate (any degree). There is also an age limit. Candidates have to be below 25 years of age and unmarried while applying. Unlike NDA exam, females can apply for CDS.
The exam and selection consists of two parts. First part is a written exam and the second part is SSB (Service Selection Board) interview. Those who manage to pass written exams will be called up for SSB interview. On clearing SSB, the candidate will undergo medical checkups. He/she will be selected for training based on a merit list.
Let me describe about the written exam in short. The written exam consists of 3 papers- English, General Knowledge and Elementary Maths. Each paper is 2 hours long. The paper is MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) styled. Candidates have to mark the right answer on an OMR answer sheet using black pen.
The SSB interview is a long process. It is conducted at SSB Centers (at Allahabad, Bangalore etc). If you manage to survive the first day at SSB center, you will have to stay there for 5-6 days for series of tests. I will write a detailed post about it later. The written part of 2013, CDS 1 has got over long ago. CDS 2 written exam concluded few weeks ago on September 8, 2013. The registration for CDS was and will be online. The results of written part will be made available on UPSC’s site- www.upsconline.gov.in. You will get your result with the help of your roll number or registration number. The results are expected to arrive on December or the last week of November. The dates for SSB will be on January, 2014. So keep visiting the above mentioned site.
