Among the various states of India, Gujarat can be said to be one of the most safest one. The Gujarat Police Department must be praised for the effort it put towards ensuring that the state remains peaceful and crime rate is kept low. In this article, I will help 12th standard passed students get the knowledge regarding how they may join Gujarat Police force after passing 12th standard. There are different post for which 12th passed students are eligible to apply for, within Gujarat Police Department. But the most lucrative among those posts is that of a Constable. And in this article, I will be focusing on this post of Constable only. You will be able to find important details such as selection process, stages involved, eligibility criteria etc.
When are the exams held?
Actually the Gujarat Police Department doesn’t has any fixed schedule regarding the recruitment of candidates for the post of Constables. Usually, when needed, they put up a recruitment advertisement. The advertisement usually gets listed on employment magazines and Gujarati newspapers. The last recruitment advertisement was put up on December 2014.
Aspirants are adviced to keep an eye on newspapers and other employment related magazines. Once the recruitment advertisement has been published by the Department, aspirants may apply using the forms.
Eligibility criteria
The basic eligibility criteria is that the candidate should be 12th standard passed.
Selection process and its various stages
On getting the forms, the Gujarat Police Department calls candidates to appear for the selection process. The very first selection process is a Physical test that all candidates must appear for. It is like a qualifying round. No marks are given for the performance in this physical tests round. Candidates just have to qualify so that they may appear for the next stage of written examination.
Let us check out what the physical tests consists of in case of male candidates-
* 800 meters race to be completed in no more than 3 minutes and 10 seconds.
* 5 km running (to be completed within 25 minutes).
Also, let us check out the physical tests held in case of female candidates-
* 1600 meters running (to be completed within 9 minutes).
Written test
As I mentioned before, candidates won’t be evaluated and given marks for their performance in the physical tests round. They just need to qualify that stage. Successful candidates who qualify those tests are then called to appear for written exams.

In case of the written exam, there is a 100 marks’ objective paper which deals with topics such as Social Science, Criminal Procedure Code, History, Geography, General Knowledge, Current Affairs etc.
