Mobile banking, cards (debit and credit), fund transfer services, internet banking – these are some of the tech-driven services offered by the SBI.   Cards (debit and credit) provided by SBI play an important role in a customer’s life. For example, one may rely on SBI debit card to withdraw money from ATMs, make online payments, transfer funds, use with PoS system etc. Similarly, SBI credit cards can also be used to make online payments, online shopping and other purposes.   While debit and credit cards are convinient to use, one can’t afford to lose it! Lost or stolen cards can be misused by others. Similarly, stolen card credentials may be used to carry out unauthorized transactions.   Under such circumstances, it makes sense to block your SBI ATM card or credit card. You may choose to block or hot-list your card if any of the following conditions arise –

  • You lose your ATM card or credit card
  • Someone stole your ATM card or credit card
  • Someone has access to your card credentials (card number, CVV, expiry date etc)

  • Block it via internet banking
  • Block it via mobile banking app

How to block SBI ATM Card?

 

1 Block SBI ATM card through internet banking

Follow these steps to block your SBI ATM card through internet banking –

  1. Visit the official website of SBI internet banking service – onlinesbi.com
  2. Enter your credentials and login
  3. Search for the ‘e-services’ tab and click on it
  4. Choose the ‘ATM card services’ and follow it up with ‘Block ATM card’ link
  5. Select the relevant account (if you have multiple accounts)
  6. First 4 and last 4 digits of all of your active cards will be shown on the screen
  7. Select the card that you want to block
  8. Click on the ‘submit’ button
  9. Verify the details and confirm your choice
  10. Select the mode of authentication (OTP or profile password)
  11. Enter the OTP/profile password and click on ‘submit’ button
  12. The portal will display a success message and ticket/reference number

 

2 Block SBI ATM card through mobile banking app

Follow these steps to block your SBI ATM card through the mobile banking app –

  1. Open the SBI YONO app
  2. If you haven’t logged in yet, enter your credentials and login
  3. Tap on the ‘services’ option
  4. Tap on the ‘debit card hot-listing’ option
  5. Choose the relevant account (if you have multiple accounts)
  6. Select the card that you want to block
  7. Select the reason behind this action (list or stolen card)
  8. Authenticate by entering the OTP received on your registered mobile number
  9. Tap on the ‘submit’ button to submit your request
  10. You will receive confirmation message from the bank

 

3 Block SBI ATM through SMS

The SMS format to block your SBI ATM card is – BLOCK [space] Last 4 digits of your debit card   Send the above SMS to this number – 567676.   You will receive a confirmation message from the bank. You may note down the reference number or ticket number for future reference.  

4 Block SBI ATM through toll-free numbers

Customers may use these toll-free numbers to block their SBI ATM card – 1800112211 or 18004253800.

  These are toll-free numbers. Dial any one of these numbers and access the IVR system. The system will guide you through the hot-listing process. You may be asked to enter card details and authenticate the session.  

How to block SBI credit card?

 

1 Block SBI credit card through website

Follow these steps to block your SBI credit card through their website –

  1. Access the official cards website of SBI – sbicard.com
  2. Enter your credentials and login to your account
  3. Go to the ‘requests’ option and click on it
  4. Select ‘Report lost/stolen card’ option
  5. List of cards owned by the account holder will be shown on the screen
  6. Select the relevant card number (which you want to block)
  7. If you want to obtain new card, select ‘reissue card’ option
  8. Click on the ‘submit’ button

  Your current credit card will be blocked by the bank and new one will be dispatched soon.  

2 Block SBI credit card through mobile banking app

Follow these steps to block your SBI credit card through the mobile banking app –

  1. Open the YONO mobile banking app
  2. If you haven’t logged in yet, enter your credentials and login
  3. Click on the menu and choose ‘service request’ option
  4. Select ‘report lost/stolen card’ option
  5. List of card numbers under the account will be shown
  6. Click on the relevant card number
  7. Click on ‘submit’ button
  8. Your credit card will be blocked and you will get confirmation from the bank

 

3 Block SBI credit card through SMS

The SMS format is – BLOCK [space] last 4 digits of your credit card   Send the above message to this number – 5676791.   Send the message from your registered mobile number only. You will get a confirmation message from the bank shortly.  

4 Block SBI credit card through toll-free numbers

You may use the following toll-free numbers to block your SBI credit card – 39020202 (prefix local STD code) or 18601801290.   These are toll-free numbers. Dial them from your registered mobile number. The IVR system will guide you through the process. You may be asked to enter some details (like card details, authentication details or more).
