KTU stands for Kerala Technological University. Many reputed engineering colleges in Kerala are affiliated to this University. This post will be of help to KTU engineering students. This post will help them pass KTU main/external examination with flying colors! In this post, I’ve listed down some of the best exam preparation tips and strategy.

KTU is well known for its no-nonsense evaluation tests. The University urges colleges affiliated to it to evaluate students at regular intervals.   Colleges affiliated to KTU are known to conduct evaluation tests at regular intervals. These institutes conduct mid semester as well as surprise tests periodically.   However, the main test comes at the end of each semester. It is at the end of a semester that an engineering student faces the main/external examination. Compared to other tests (mid term and evaluation tests), main/external exams hold much more value and importance.   Marks scored in main exams play a crucial role in determining the grade of a student. In this post, you will find some effective tips and strategy that will help you crack KTU external exams.   Come, let us check out the list of tips and tricks. Here it is –

KTU main/external exam tips

1 Time management holds the key

When it comes to KTU exam preparation, time management plays a very important role. If you master the art of time management, you will be able to prepare well for the exam. And if you prepare well for the exam, you will score decently well in it.   Time management takes planning, discipline and motivation. If you are looking for a starting point, you may begin with preparing a time table. You may also plan your activities and allocate time to different activities.   For example, you may wisely allocate time towards activities such as – physical activities, studying, sleep etc. You should plan and manage your time in such a way that there’s enough time available for studying as well as rest.

2 Start preparing from the very first class/lecture

Majority of engineering students get off to a slow start at the beginning of each semester. They take studies and classes very lightly at start. Most of them take things seriously when the main examination is just a month or weeks away!   This attitude must be changed. If you want to score well in external examination, you must start your preparation from an early stage. Why not start preparing from the first day of the semester. It will work wonders for you. Read the next tip to find out why –

3 Break goals and tasks into smaller tasks

Set small goals. They are relatively easier to meet. Once you accomplish a small task, you will get the confidence and motivation to move towards the next challenge.   Instead of preparing the subject in one week (the last week before exam), break it into small chapters/sections. Begin your preparation early. Deal with one chapter or section a day.   You won’t feel overwhelmed while dealing with small chapters and sections. This is the main advantage of starting your preparation at an early stage. You will have plenty of time to prepare. Taking advantage of this situation, you may break the syllabus into smaller sections and deal with them relatively easily and efficiently.

4 Say goodbye to distraction

Online gaming can lead to addiction. It has many side effects. Wastage of time is a big side effect of gaming addiction. Not just gaming, modern day students have access to different types of distractions.   Learn to keep such distractions at bay. Otherwise you must be disciplined enough to spend little time towards gaming, TV, mobile phones, social media and other such distractions.   Your primary task should be – studying. Don’t let distractions eat into your precious study time. If necessary, dedicate a small amount of time towards gaming, social media and mobile phone.

5 Use online learning portals

Online learning portals are helpful to students in many ways. They provide us with question papers, question banks, solutions etc. You may access education forums and interact with like-minded people. Forums may be used to solve doubts and educate others.   Online learning portals provide an interactive learning experience. It’s quite refreshing and different from the traditional book reading experience.

6 Focus on the fundamentals

Engineering education gives adequate importance to practical knowledge and learning. Students must focus on the fundamentals. Try to understand the concepts. Don’t just try to memorize things.   Simply memorizing lessons won’t be fruitful in the long run! But if you understand the concepts and know the logic behind a formula or lesson, you will be able to remember it for a very long time!

7 Solve questions papers

Solving previous years’ questions papers is an important task. This activity is a proven method that will help you perform better in the main examination.

8 Revision

Students must make sure that they have enough time for revision before the exam. The last few weeks before the main exam must ideally be devoted towards revision, not preparation! If you follow the other tips mentioned in this post, you will be able to wrap up your preparation process well before the date of exam. You may utilize the remaining time to revise the syllabus.
