This has led to unemployment of large number of qualified young men and women. This is where computer courses come handy. These computer courses are usually completed in less time. Thus IT offers great opportunities. Also, an engineering degree in IT is not always required to bag IT job. Many times, one can get IT jobs after completing short courses of 6-1 year length. Like the above entry, this one also is a traditional Diploma course. The course duration is 3 years. 10th passed students are eligible to pursue this course. It is the minimum educational qualification required. It can also be pursued by 12th passed science stream (mathematics group) students.

 

The course covers topics like software, hardware, computer application and programming. If you are willing to spend 3 years, this course will give you good software and programming skills.

 

After completing this Diploma course, one may go for Bachelor’s (Engineering) Degree by making use of the lateral entry. Diploma in Computer Science holders may secure admission directly in the 2nd year of Degree Engineering program!

 

Some notable alternative courses include- Certificate in Computer Application, Diploma in Computer Software Technology, Diploma in Advanced Software Technology and Diploma in Hardware and Network Engineering.

 

10 Data Entry Operator course

This course will hone one’s typing skills and general data entry skills. Not a high profile course, but it will help one acquire entry level typing and office jobs. This course especially suits those who don’t have advanced knowledge about computers.

 

Course duration may vary from one institute to another. Generally it is 6 months long. Candidates belonging to any stream – arts, commerce or science – are eligible to pursue data entry training programs.

11 Computer Hardware Maintenance

Those who are not too keen about software may pursue this course. Hardware maintenance course focuses primarily on computer hardware components, common problems arising in them and repair work related to them.

 

Students are given knowledge about common hardware components like printer, monitor, mouse etc. They are trained to carry out repair work related to computer hardware. If you are interested in networking, there are combination courses covering both hardware and networking topics.

    • I’m not knowledgeable about the cutoff marks in case of the specified institute. So can’t say whether you’ll get admission for CSE or not.

    I have done my B.tech from Biotechnology branch in 2014, for two I have searched job in my field but hard luck got nothing. Now, I am thinking about switching to IT field. I have heard about this Diploma in software testing course, I am not interested in development field, But counselor told me that I already have two year gap and this course is not job promising for because i am not from CS/IT background.     • Kanhu, for SSC and Railway jobs (officer posts), graduation is the minimum requirement. Computer course won’t play a direct role in getting such jobs. You’ll have to satisfy the eligibility criteria and crack the entrance test, that’s it!

    • Deepak, IT Edge is the course that I usually suggest. It covers fundamentals. Thus, it is suited for people like you. Some other courses you may try are DBMS, Data Mining and Analysis. Cyber security course may be pursued by you. But ensure that it also focuses on the fundamentals.

    • Fahad, CSE focuses on software and programming more. IT focuses more in Information management, IT solutions, Information security etc. Both have common elements also.     • Ryan, basic computer knowledge is enough to help you out with your marketing tasks. It depends a lot on the product you are marketing. Is it a software?     I completed B.Sc(Computer Science) in 2004 in just 35% marks.
    Becoz lack of interest in computers, I worked in Insurance channel around 12-years. But, in these days especially in our area there is no value for insurance employees. So, I am thinking that to start acquiring my computer knowledge back and settle in software field. I decided strongly to do whatever needed to settle in this sector.     • There are different course formats, Raju. There are short term courses- like 6 months long. Then there are Diploma and Certificate courses that lasts about 1 year. Detailed course would be better. See, I can’t suggest any Institute. Their quality varies from one state to another.

    • Raghu, short term courses last as low as 6 months. But you are not from Technical field. So you’ll have to start from foundation. I suggest you go for detailed courses lasting 1 year or more.

If it is animation that you are interested in, you may go for B.Sc. in Multimedia and Animation course or other Diploma/Certificate in Multimedia and Animation course. If it is hacking that you are interested in, you may go for Ethical Hacking courses. The choice is yours.

  339. Hello sir,I’m 22 years old and complete btech (EEE)last year and gave MBA entrance exams for one year but dint get admission. Now I have done software manual testing course and not getting job because there is a requirement of java or selenium (automation)
