NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) was formally known as AIPMT (All India Pre Medical Test). If you want to study medical science, qualifying the NEET UG is a must. NEET UG 2023: Basic Details

Earlier, conducted by the CBSE, The NEET is to be conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency) from now on. The Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar said in a press conference held in New Delhi on the 7th of July 2018 that the NTA is ready to take over the role of conducting the exam from the next session.

 

NEET will be the only nationwide exam for the qualification to study medical science in the country. The exam will be conducted twice a year and the candidates will need to apply for two sessions (not mandatory) separately.

 

Changes that have been Introduced in the Application Process

The MCI has approved a set of changes in the NEET UG exam as proposed by the Union Health Ministry. The changes include –

  • The candidates need to produce any valid ID proof to apply for the exam. Adhaar Card is not compulsory to apply for the NEET Exam.
  • The removal of the attempt limit is taken into account from last year. Now, candidates can appear for the NEET until the age limit considered according to their categories.
  • Private candidates, State Open School or NIOS candidates are not eligible for the NEET exam.
  • NEET will be a bi-lingual examination. (English and anyone language, chosen by the candidate)
  • Telengana and Andhra Pradesh have joined the 15% All India Quota Scheme. Submission for the self-declaration is not needed for the students who belong to these states.
  • Candidates who wish to pursue the MBBS/BDS degrees from other countries also need to qualify the NEET UG exam.
  • There will be a single set of question paper in all languages.
  • 3,000 practice centers will be set up by the NTA for NEET UG all over the country. The students will get an hour to practice or the exam on Saturdays and Sundays.

 

NEET UG 2023: Important dates

According to the announcement made by the concerned authority, the online release of the application form for NEET UG is as follows –

 

For February 2023 session (Events and Dates) –

  • Date of Release of online application – October 2020
  • Last date of submission of application – October 2020
  • Last date of fee payment – October, last week
  • The opening of the correction window – November, 1st week
  • Admit card availability – January, 1st week 2023
  • Date of commencement of exam – February 2023(8 different sittings; candidates can choose only one)
  • The answer key release – Within a week of the exam
  • Announcement of result – March, 1st week 2023
  • Counselling to begin – June, 2nd week 2023

 

For May 2023 session (Events and Dates) –

  • Date of Release of online application – 2nd week of March, 2023
  • Last date of submission of application – 2nd week of April, 2023
  • Last date of fee payment – 2nd week of April, 2023
  • Opening of the correction window – 3rd week of April, 2023

NEET UG 2023 Application Form

Candidates must carefully follow the steps given below to make the process errorless while filling up the NEET UG 2023 forms. They will also need to minutely follow the instructions given in the information bulletin. Here, we are providing the details of NEET UG –

 

1st Step – Registration

In this step, the candidates are required to visit the official website of NTA. Clicking on the link provided to register/apply comes second. The candidates will need to put in their personal information as per the website demands. This includes name, e-mail id and the mobile number. Then they are required to create a password as the given specifications and confirm it. Once this is over the candidates will need to log in using their ID and password.

 

2nd step – To fill the Application Form

Candidates will need to fill the application form providing the exact information of the following as per mentioned in the class 10 certificate –

  • Name of the Candidate
  • Father and Mother’s Name
  • Residential Address
  • Date of Birth
  • Category
  • Nationality
  • Gender
  • Mobile Number
  • Email address
  • Physical Disability Details (if applicable)

 

The choice for the medium of the question paper from all the languages available (including Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Oriya, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Urdu, Kannada and English).

 

Choice of Examination centre and slot will be up to the candidate. The choice of the centre can be put according to the maximum limit of preference. NEET candidates are given to choose their exam dates and slots from the 8 different sittings. Slots will be made available according to the preference.

 

3rd Step – Educational Details needed to be given

  • Details of Class 10 (School name, Amount of Percentage obtained etc)
  • Details of Class 12 (Details of marks in Biology/ Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry and English)
  • An option for “Appearing” and “Result awaited” is also given to choose from, for the candidates appearing for the Class 12 exam in 2023

 

4th Step – Uploading the scanned documents as per the need

The applicants need to upload the following scanned documents as per the website specifications. The following documents are to be scanned and uploaded by the candidate.

5th Step – Payment of the Application Fee

The payment mode of the Application Fee of the examination is yet to be notified by NTA. If online payment mode will be available, the fees can be paid through Credit/Debit card or Net Banking.

 

The amount of fees for application is as follows –

6th Step – Take a Print out of the Acknowledgement Receipt

A Confirmation Page will be generated after the payment of the Application Fee. It will be sent to the ID and the mobile number registered by the candidate.

 

The generation of the Confirmation Page will indicate a successful application. The candidates are expected to properly preserve a printed copy of this Confirmation Page for further reference.

 

How can the corrections on the Application Forms be made?

On an account of a single opportunity, the candidates can make corrections as per the chance granted by the authority. It can be done online during the 1st week of November 2020 for the February Exam and 3rd week of April 2023 for the May Exam.

 

The candidates can correct anything which is applicable in terms of the photograph or the signature. They will be intimated by their SMS/email for this whereas the same can be done by their login IDs.

 

The candidates will also be granted to make corrections on the fields such as the Date of Birth, State code of eligibility, gender, identification identity, category, status of disability, qualifying examination code and percentage of marks obtained in the 12th standard, father’s and mother’s name, medium of exam paper and examination centre.

 

In case, any additional fees can be paid through Debit/Credit card by the candidate.

 

NEET UG 2023 Qualifying Marks

The qualifying marks for the candidates is minimum 50% marks for general, 40% marks for the SC/ST candidates and 45% marks for PH candidates in the PCB group.

 

Eligibility Criteria

All the students who are willing to appear for the NEET Exam must have passed the 10+2 level or any equivalent exam. They must be of 17 years of age at least. Students appearing for the qualifying exam will also be considered to be eligible. The maximum age limit is 25 years with a 5-year relaxation for the SC/ST and OBC candidates.

 

Indian Nationalists, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), Foreign Nationals and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) are eligible to apply. Candidates belonging to J&K state will be considered eligible to apply for 15% All India Quota on basis of self-declaration.

 

Adhaar Card is not considered mandatory to apply for the NEET UG Exam. J&K, Meghalaya & Assam candidates can also apply by providing their Passport Number, Bank Account Number, Ration Card Number or any other valid Government ID number.

 

NRI candidates can apply by Adhaar Card number or Passport Number. PIO, OCI candidates can apply by Passport Number.

 

The candidates who are appearing for the 12th standard examination or whose result is awaited can only be termed eligible to get admission if they qualify the (10+2) examination with the minimum required percentage.

 

Subjects which are Important to be Studied

A candidate must be qualified with Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination or any other curriculum which is equivalent to the (10+2) after a period of 12-year study. It is mandatory to qualify their examinations with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Biotechnology or Mathematics or any other Elective subjects. English, not less than the core course should also be there in the (10+2) setup.

 

Candidates who have passed (10+2) from NIOS, State Open School or a private candidate shall not be eligible for the NEET (UG) Exam. In addition to that, the study of Biotechnology/Biology should not be as an additional subject in the (10+2) level.

 

2 years continuous and regular study of PCB together is required at the 10+2 level for each candidate.

 

Where the content of the course does not match the as it is prescribed for the 10+2 education structure of the National Committee, the candidates will need to undergo a period of one year pre-professional training.

 

NEET UG 2023 Syllabus

Given below is the syllabus of some important topics which is to be studied for NEET. The topics for all three subjects are given below. The syllabus is divided into the 11th standard and the 12th standard.

 

Physics:

Class XI: Notion of Potential Energy, Nature of Physical Laws, Physical world and measurement, Speed Work, Velocity, Kinematics, Static and Kinetic Fiction, Laws of Motion, Motion and System Particles, Kepler’s Law of Planetary Motion, Thermodynamics, Gravitation, The Universal Law of Gravitation, Behavior of Perfect Gas and Kinetic Theory, Properties of Bulk Matter, Bulk Modulus, Critical Velocity, Heat, Oscillation and Waves.

 

Class XII: Electric Charges and their Conservation, Electrostatics, Electric Dipole, Magnetism, Magnetic Effects, Carbon Resistors, Kirchhoff’s Law and simple Applications, Electromagnetic Induction, Alternating Current, AC Generator and Transformer, Concept of Magnetic Field, Permanent Magnets, Atoms and Nuclei, Optics, Optical instruments, Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Waves, Diodes and Capacitors, Electronic Devices.

 

Chemistry:

Class XI: Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Atomic Structure, Periodicity of Properties and Classification of Elements, States of Matter: Liquids and Gases, Chemical Bonding and structure of Molecules, Equilibrium, Thermodynamics, Hydrogen, Redox Reactions, p-block Elements, s-block Elements, Basics of Organic Chemistry, Hydrocarbons, Chemistry in Environment.

 

Class XII: Solution, Solid State, Electrochemistry, Surface Chemistry, Chemical Kinetics, p- block Elements, f and d block Elements, Isolation of Elements, Co-ordination Compounds, Haloalkanes and Haloarenes, Alcohols, Ethers & Phenols, Aldehydes, Ketones, Carboxylic Acids, Polymers, Everyday Chemistry.

 

Biology:

Class XI: Structural Organization in Plants and Animals, Diversity in Living World, Cell Structure, Human Physiology, Plant Physiology.

 

Class XII: Reproduction, Evolution and Genetics, Human Welfare, Applications of Biotechnology, Environment and Ecology.

 

NEET UG 2023 Exam Pattern

The pattern of the NEET UG Examination is given below in the tabular form with some facts at-a-glance which will help you to have detailed information about the examination.

  • There will be 4 sections in the papers.
  • Biology will be split-up into Botany and Zoology.

  • The examination will be online.
  • 4 marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
  • 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

 

NEET UG 2023 Admit Card

The number of candidates who will successfully pass through the process of application will be able to get their admit cards for the examination. The admit cards will be available to every student via online mode. There will be a format available for the candidates for affixing a postcard size photograph in the admit card.

 

The admit card, also known as the hall tickets of NEET UG will be available during the 1st week of January 2023 (for the February Exam) and during the 1st week of May (for the May 2023 exam).

 

The candidates are advised to contact the officials immediately in case of any discrepancy in the admit cards. Each student is expected to download the hall tickets of the PDF copy which will be sent to them.

 

Dress Code for NEET UG 2023

There are some terms with respect to the dress code, which the candidates will need to follow at the time of appearance to the examination centre.

 

All candidates are expected to wear light-colored half sleeved clothes with big buttons or brooch or badge etc. They are also expected to wear slippers or sandals with low heels. No shoes are allowed.

 

All male candidates are expected to wear light clothes like Jeans, Pants, and Shirts (only half sleeved which will have no frisking). No any frisking clothes are allowed because they can be used for hiding communication devices. The buttons of the shirt are expected to be of medium size and not big enough. Any kind of Kurta or Payjama is not allowed in the examination hall.

 

All female candidates are expected to wear light clothes which are half sleeved. They should not have big buttons or flowers in them. Full sleeved clothes for the female candidates are not allowed. Shoes for the female candidates are also not allowed.

 

NEET UG 2023 Answer Key

The answer key helps the candidates with the correct answers. The students will be helped by the answer key as it will help them do their own self-assessment.

 

The OMR responses along with the answer key will be released within a week after the exam. The board facilitates the candidate to throw a challenge against the answer key. All candidates throwing a challenge against the answer key is required to pay Rs 1000/- as per the authorized norms.

 

The candidates are required to visit the login portal. In order to challenge they need to input their registration no. and the password.

 

NEET UG 2023 Result

Now this one is something for which an aspiring passionate candidate waits. The results of this examination will only set up the fate of a candidate who can be a future doctor serving the humanity.

 

Every candidate can check their NEET UG results online. Tentative dates of the announcement of the results are during the 1st week of March 2023 (for the Feb exam) and the 1st week of June 2023 (for the May exam).

 

Results of NEET UG will not be prepared according to the category. No provision for re-evaluation or rechecking of the answer sheets will be done.

 

The preparation of the merit will strictly be under the guidance of MCI, DGHS and DCI. The 15% All India Quota will be taken under consideration while preparing the merit list.

 

Students will be summoned for the counselling as per their acquired rank in this examination.

 

NEET UG 2023 Cut-off and Counselling

The cut-off mark is something which only indicates whether the candidate is the subject to crack NEET UG or not. The factors on which the cut-off depends are the number of candidates, difficulty level and the performance of the students on that specific year.

 

The counselling process will be done on the online platform. Counselling is strictly to be administrated by the Medical Counselling Committee of the Director General of Health Services.

 

The expected date for the commencement of counseling is during the 2nd week of June 2023. Allotment of the seats, to the students, will strictly be done as per the availability of seats in the colleges and as per the merit and the category to which the students belong.
