Come, let us take a close look at marine engineering course. In the next section, we will have an in-depth analysis of B.E. or B.Tech. Marine Engineering course. What is B.E./B.Tech. Marine Engineering course all about? What is the course content like? You will find answers to these questions in the next section. Let us begin –

B.E./B.Tech. Marine Engineering Course Details

It is an engineering program. B.E. stands for Bachelor of Engineering and B.Tech. stands for Bachelor of Technology. It is an undergraduate level Bachelor’s Degree course. In other words, it is an engineering degree program.

As the name suggests, this engineering program deals with the field of marine engineering. What is marine engineering all about, some of you may ask. In simple terms, this discipline deals with the engineering of boats, ships, oil rigs and any other type of marine vessel, structure and ocean engineering.

To be precise, marine engineering deals with the design, development, maintenance, operation and study of marine vessel and structures such as – ships, boats, submarines, oil rigs etc. Apart from marine vessels and structures, this branch also deals with concepts of ocean engineering.

Marine engineering consists of elements of other branches of engineering such as – mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer science engineering, instrumentation engineering etc.

Let us consider a merchant navy ship. The ship is made up of different parts such as – the body, propulsion system, machinery, complex piping system, automation and control systems, electrical and electronic systems, telecommunication system etc. Marine engineering deals with the design and development of this ship. Apart from that, marine engineering also deals with the maintenance and operation of this ship!

If you want to become an engineer in merchant navy sector, B.E. or B.Tech. Marine Engineering program will be of help to you. This program will help you kick-start your dream career!

In order to become an engineer aboard a merchant navy ship, one must possess adequate and relevant academic qualification. Marine engineering is one such relevant qualification. This program has been crafted keeping the needs of 12th passed (with specific subjects) candidates in mind.

Through this course, a 12th passed candidate may acquire marine engineering degree. This degree will help a candidate to join the merchant navy. In short, those who want to become an engineering officer in merchant navy will benefit from this course.

Come, let us take a close look at the eligibility criteria. In the next section, we will deal with topics such as – academic qualification required, duration, age limit, physical and medical standards required etc.
