KEAM stands for Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical Exam. It is a state level entrance exam. The main aim of this exam is to facilitate admission into UG level engineering and pharmacy programs.

 

CEE Kerala is known to conduct KEAM for facilitating admission into engineering and pharmacy programs only. Candidates interested in medical admission (MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, BSMS and BUMS) must appear for and quality NEET UG (conducted by the NTA).

 

Similarly, candidates interested in medical allied admission (B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Sc. Forestry, B.V.Sc. and AH & B.F.Sc. must appear for and quality NEET UG (conducted by the NTA).

 

Candidates interested in B.Arch. admission must appear for and qualify NATA (conducted by the CoA).

Am I eligible to apply for KEAM test, some of you may ask. If you want to apply for this test, you must make sure that you are eligible to appear for this test. Because CEE, Kerala will entertain application forms from eligible candidates only!

KEAM 2023 Eligibility Criteria

In order to be considered eligible to appear for this test, one must satisfy certain conditions. These conditions are academic and non-academic in nature. Academic requirements include – educational qualification and minimum aggregate marks. Non-academic qualifications include – age limit and nationality.

 

Let us take a closer look at each one of these requirements –

 

Age limit

• A candidate must be at least 17 years old (as on 31st December, 2023).
• No upper age-limit set by the CEE, Kerala.

 

Nationality

• Indian nationals are eligible to apply for this test.
• PIO (Persons of Indian Origin) and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) are also eligible to apply for this test. They won’t be able to avail benefits of reservation though.

 

Domicile certificate

On the basis of domicile certificate, KEAM applicants can be categorized into the following types –

1. Keralite
2. Non-Keralite Category 1
3. Non-Keralite Category 2

 

Keralite

• Candidates of Kerala origin fall under this category.
• Children of officers serving in All India Service (allotted to Kerala Cadre) are also considered ‘Keralites’. But they won’t be able to avail reservation benefits though.

 

Non-Keralite Category 1

• A candidate who has completed the qualifying exam (12th board, usually) in Kerala and who is son/daughter of Non-Keralite parents working for Govt of India/Defence service, posted in Kerala.
• A candidate who has completed the qualifying exam in Kerala and who is son/daughter of Non-Keralite parents working for the Government of Kerala for a period of at least 2 years.
• A candidate who is not of Kerala origin but has been residing in Kerala for a period of 5 years within the period of 12 years of his/her study.
• A candidate who is not of Kerala origin but did his/her schooling in Kerala from class 8th to 12th.

 

Non-Keralite Category 2

Candidates who don’t belong to ‘Keralite’ or ‘Non-Keralite Category 1’ fall under this category. These candidates have access to Govt and management quota seats in Govt controlled self financing colleges. However, they shall be considered for Govt seats in SFI engg colleges only when Keralite and Non-Keralite Category 1 are not available for admission.

 

Educational qualification for engineering admission

• Minimum educational qualification required is – completed 12th standard or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry as an optional subject.
• Minimum aggregate marks (in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) required is 45% marks.
• Candidates appearing for 12th board exam are also eligible to apply. They must be able to provide proof of passing the exam at the time of admission though.

 

Educational qualification for B.Pharm. admission

• Minimum educational qualification required is – completed 12th standard with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology as optional subjects individually.
• Candidates appearing for 12th board exam are also eligible to apply. They must be able to provide proof of passing the exam at the time of admission though.

What’s the registration process like, some of you may ask. Here is everything you need to know about it –

 

Step by step registration process

1. Visit the official website of KEAM (cee.kerala.gov.in).
2. Search for ‘Registration’ link and click on it.
3. Go through the declaration and click on ‘Proceed for registration’ button.
4. Enter the following details when asked – name of the candidate, date of birth, mobile number and valid email id.
5. Create a password, confirm it and enter the access code.
6. Click on ‘Register’ button.
7. A pop-up will appear. Check the details entered and click on ‘Confirm’. Click on ‘Edit’ to make changes.
8. After clicking ‘Submit’, candidate will obtain an OTP on his/her mobile number. Use the OTP to complete the registration process.
9. Registration process is followed by form-filling. Fill up KEAM application form by entering the following details – personal details, academic details, address, contact number, email id and category details.
10. After filling up the form, click on ‘Save and preview’ button. Check your application form and rectify mistakes (if any). After rectifying, click on ‘Save and finalize’ button.
11. Pay the application fee. Candidates may pay it online (credit/debit cards, net banking, UPI, payments gateway etc) or offline (e-challan).
12. Upload scanned images of your latest passport size photo and signature specimen. These documents must adhere to the guidelines set by CEE, Kerala.
13. Form-filling process is complete and candidates may take printout of confirmation page for future use/reference.

 

Application fee

Candidates may pay the application fee online or offline. When it comes to online mode, they may pay it through credit/debit cards, net banking, UPI or payment gateways. When it comes to offline payment, they may download e-challan from CEE website and submit it (along with the fee) at designated post offices across Kerala.

KEAM 2023 Syllabus & Exam Pattern

KEAM test consists of two papers –

1. Paper 1: Physics and Chemistry
2. Paper 2: Mathematics

 

Each paper contains 120 questions. Each question carries 4 marks. Candidates interested in engineering admission must appear for paper 1 and 2. Pharmacy admission aspirants must appear for paper 1 only.

• Physics: Electromagnetic induction, laws of motion, work and energy, waves and oscillations, heat, thermodynamics, current electricity, units and measurement, gravitation, mechanics of solids and fluids, Alternating Current, optics, semiconductor device etc.
• Chemistry: Chemical bonds, equilibrium, chemical reactions, hydrocarbons, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, alcohols, ethers, phenols, atomic structure, hydrogen, solutions, chemical kinetics, polyemers, biomolecules etc.
• Mathematics: Differential calculus, integral calculus, algebra, geometry, probability, statistics, mean, matrices and determinants, logarithms, permutation and combination, vector algebra etc.

KEAM 2023 Admit Card

KEAM admit card contains the following details –

• Name of the candidate
• Application number
• Date and time of exam

Admit card is an important document. Without valid admit card, a candidate won’t be allowed to enter the exam hall.

 

Candidates may obtain KEAM admit card online. They may follow these steps to obtain the admit card –

3. Login with your credentials.
4. Your admit card will be displayed on screen.
5. Download the admit card and take printout for further use/reference.

 

KEAM 2023 Result

CEE Kerala is known to release KEAM result online. Candidates may keep an eye on the official website of CEE to check their result. One may follow these steps to check his/her result –

1. Access the official website of CEE.
2. Login using your credentials.
3. Once the result has been announced, you will find it on your screen.
4. Download and take printout for further use/reference.

KEAM 2023 Counseling and Admission

KEAM counseling process is carried out to fill engineering and pharmacy seats across state colleges. Seat filling process will be carried out over multiple rounds. The process will continue until all seats are filled. Seats are distributed among deserving candidates on the basis of their position in rank list.

 

Counseling process consists of three main stages –

• Registration
• Filling seat and college choice
• Seat allocation and payment of fee

 

Eligible candidates may register for counseling process online or offline (at designated centers). After that, they must access the website of CEE and enter course and college preference. Based on the rank list, seats will be distributed among deserving candidates. Once seats are allotted, candidates may pay the admission fee and confirm their seat.
