Over the past few days, I have been publishing useful guides that deal with the Indian Coast Guard’s Officer Entry recruitment. It was like a series! And this will be the last article of that series! So far, I discussed recruitment process and eligibility criteria in case of posts like- Assistant Commandant (Pilot/Navigator), Assistant Commandant (Tech), Assistant Commandant (Law). In this article, I will deal with the post of Assistant Commandant (General Duty). As usual, I will cover details such as- post details, entry modes, eligibility criteria, age limit, educational qualifications required, medical standards and selection process.

First of all, let us check out the basic details about this job post in Indian Coast Guard and the entry modes available.

 

Assistant Commandant (General Duty): post details

This is an Officer Entry. Regular appointment as well as Short Service Appointment is available for candidates. Only male candidates are eligible to apply for the Regular Appointment method. On the other hand, only female candidates are eligible to make use of the SS Appointment.

 

In case of the SS Appointment, the appointment is done for a period of 8 years. This duration can be extended to 10 years, which further can be extended up to 14 years!

 

Age Limit

Age limit is same in case of both male and female candidates. It is 21-25 years of age. Relaxations are also present, in case of SC/ST (5 years) candidates and OBC (3 years) candidates.

 

Educational Qualifications required

Minimum education qualification required is also same in case of both male and female candidates. Graduation Degree in any Discipline is required, from a recognized University/Institute. Also, 10+2 Schooling with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects is also required.

 

Minimum marks requirement in case of Graduation program is 60% marks. This requirement is relaxed by 5% marks in case of SC/ST candidates, NCC ‘C’ Certificate ‘A’ Grade Holders, National Level Sportsperson and wards of Indian Coast Guard personnel deceased while in service.

 

Medical standards

Minimum height required in case of male candidates- 157 cm. Minimum height required in case of female candidates- 152 cm. Weight should be in proportion to height. Eyesight requirement- 6/6 and 6/9 without glasses.

 

Minimum height requirement is reduced by 5 cm in case of candidates from Assamese Garhwal, Sikkim and Local tribes of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Minimum height requirement is reduced by 2 cm in case of candidates from Lakshadweep and Mainland settlers in Andaman and Nicobar.

Selection process

If you satisfy all of the above mentioned eligibility criteria, then you may apply for the job post of Assistant Commandant (General Duty) in Indian Coast Guard. The application process is online one. Just visit the site- joinindiancoastguard.gov.in and apply online. Deserving candidates will be called for further selection process. To select candidates, authorities make use of marks obtained in the Graduation program. Such candidates are called to selection centers at Mumbai/Chennai/Kolkata/Noida. Candidates have to select the center while filling up the application form online.
