B.E. and B.Tech. Admission in Gujarat
The admission process may vary from one college to another. The three main modes of B.E. or B.Tech. admission are – the merit-based admission process, direct admission process, and donation-based admission process.
Under a merit-based admission process, seats are distributed among eligible and deserving candidates on the basis of their rank or position in a merit list. The merit list is prepared on the basis of candidates’ performance in relevant entrance test/selection exams and/or performance in relevant board examinations.
Based on this merit list, B.E. and B.Tech. seats are allotted among candidates who satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria. In order to get into a government engineering college or a good private engineering college, one must crack merit-based admission process.
The direct admission process is carried out when a college has too many vacant seats at its disposal. Under this process, seats are distributed among eligible candidates on the basis of ‘first come, first served’ basis.
The donation-based admission process is also known as management-quota admission. Under this process, a financial transaction is used to secure admission into a private engineering college.

Fees
Government engineering colleges charge around 1500 INR per year for B.E. and B.Tech. programs. Government and aided colleges provide subsidized education to its students. Much of the expense is borne by the Government. Thus, these institutes are able to charge very low amount as tuition fees. Other notable charges may include – hostel fees, mess fees, safety deposit, library deposit etc.

B.E. and B.Tech. Course Details
B.E. stands for Bachelor of Engineering. B.Tech. stands for Bachelor of Technology. Both are Bachelor’s Degree-level engineering education programs. In other words, these programs fall under UG (undergraduate) level.
The course is four years long. Students who have passed 12th Science with PCM subjects are eligible to apply for B.E. or B.Tech. admission. Subject requirements (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology) may change at course level.

Eligibility criteria
- Minimum educational qualification required to pursue B.E. or B.Tech. program is – completed 12th Science with PCM subjects from a recognized board. Subject requirements may vary at the course level.
- Candidates who have completed relevant Diploma programs (engineering) are also eligible to apply for B.E. or B.Tech. admission (lateral entry).
