Karnataka is home to some of the best professional education colleges in India. In this post, I’ve listed down some of the best engineering colleges in Karnataka. Engineering is a very popular choice among 12th Science-passed students in Karnataka. Engineering and Medicine – these are probably the most sought-after professions in this state.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of students appear for engineering entrance exams and apply for admission. Many of them manage to find their way into a decent engineering college. Only a handful of them manage to secure admission into the best colleges in Karnataka.

The harsh reality is that many students end up securing admission into colleges that are not well-equipped in terms of infrastructure, faculty, and amenities. Thanks to reforms in education policies, it has become relatively easy for private entities to start an engineering college.

Different types of courses (based on academic levels)

M.E. or M.Tech.

M.E. stands for Master of Engineering and M.Tech. stands for Master of Technology. These programs last for a period of 2 years. Eligibility criteria are – completed relevant B.E./B.Tech. program or equivalent qualification.

PhD

There exist three main types of engineering colleges in Karnataka. They are –

2. Private engineering colleges
3. Aided engineering colleges

This classification has been carried out on the basis of the entity that owns the college. Government colleges are owned, funded and operated by the state Government. The Government has tasked the DTE with carrying out administrative tasks associated with these colleges.

Private colleges are also known as self-financing colleges. They are owned, funded, and managed by private charitable trusts and non-profit organizations. Aided colleges receive partial funding from the state Government.

Admission Process

In order to secure admission into reputed colleges, you must appear for a relevant engineering entrance exam.
