DHLS Course Details

Type of course

DHLS stands for Diploma in Hearing Language and Speech. It is a Diploma certificate course. On course completion, successful students will be awarded Diploma certificate showing the qualification that he/she has attained.

The course is a holistic mixture of classroom lectures and hands on practical sessions. Speech or language therapy is mostly practical stuff. Due to this reason, adequate attention is given towards practical training, in this course.

Duration

It is a 1 year long Diploma course.

Eligibility criteria

10+2 Science stream passed (with PCB/M subjects) is the minimum qualification required.

Age limit

At the time of admission, the candidate should be more than 17 years of age.

Admission process

Most institutes follow merit based admission process. Marks scored by students in 12th board examination are taken into consideration. Seats are allotted to deserving candidates on the basis of merit marks scored by them.

Career prospects and job opportunities

DHLS professionals have diverse job opportunities available in front of them. Government, private and self employment opportunities are available in abundance in front of them. They may work under speech therapists or may carry out private practice.

They may work independently or as part of a team at healthcare setups like hospitals (government and private), clinics, NGOs, nursing homes, special schools and rehabilitation centres. Those who are interested in working independently may go for private practice.
