1 Emergency Medical Technician (Entry Level)
After completing this training program, you will be able to don the role of an emergency medical technician. This training program deals with areas such as – emergency medical practices, first aid, patient transportation, clinical emergency, trauma, scene safety and communication skills. Students who have passed 12th class are eligible to apply for admission. It is a short-term training program.
2 Cardiac Care Technician
It is an entry level training program. This program doesn’t deal with advanced level cardiac care technology. It does deal with aspects such as – heart diseases and their diagnosis, relevant diagnosis equipment, relevant tools and devices, sterilization of tools and devices, diagnostic examinations and communication skills. After completing this training program, you will be able to don the role of – cardiac care technician. Cardiac care technicians are hired by hospitals, clinics and other healthcare institutes. They usually work under skilled cardiologists. Students who have passed 12th standard are eligible to apply for admission. This is a short-term training program.
3 General Duty Assistant
General duty assistants work at hospitals, clinics and other healthcare institutes. They take care of different tasks and activities such as – patient transportation, cleaning of wards, bio-waste management, handling tools and equipment, assisting Doctors and nurses etc. This training program deals with the above mentioned activities. Students who have passed 10th class are eligible to pursue this course.
4 Vision Technician
If you want to work under ophthalmologists, you may pursue this course. If you visit an eye care clinics, you will be able to find vision technicians in action. They usually work under the supervision of qualified ophthalmologists. Vision technicians are trained to assist ophthalmologists. They are trained in areas such as – operating relevant equipment, record keeping, patient education and preparation, communication skills etc. Students who have passed 12th class are eligible to apply for admission. This is a short-term vocational training program.
5 Dialysis Technician
Students who have passed 12th class are eligible to apply for admission. As the name suggests, this training program deals with various aspects of dialysis technology. Dialysis technicians are trained in areas such as – renal functions and failure, operating dialysis equipment, patient education and preparation, patient assessment, assisting Doctors and nurses, equipment maintenance and disinfection etc.
6 Medical Laboratory Technician
Students who have passed 12th class are eligible to pursue this training program. This program is popularly known as MLT training. MLT technicians are usually hired by medical labs and healthcare institutes. They perform tasks such as – sample collection, sample analysis, recording observations, forwarding observations to relevant Doctor, operating diagnostics equipment, cleaning and maintaining devices and equipment. This is a short-term vocational training program. 12th pass students are eligible to apply for admission.
7 Home Health Aide
After completing this training program, you will be able to don the role of a home nurse or medical care assistant. Students who have passed 10th class are eligible to pursue this course. The main task of a home health aide is to provide basic healthcare services to patients. He/she is knowledgeable about areas such as – basics of human body, diseases, human body and its organs, first aid, drugs and dosage etc. This is a short-term vocational training program. 10th pass students are eligible to apply for admission.
8 Phlebotomy Technician
Phlebotomy is the process of collecting blood from patients. In simple terms, phlebotomy technicians collect blood from patients, label the sample and prepare it for testing. The sample is later analyzed in a medical laboratory. Phlebotomy technicians are basically a part of medical laboratory. This training program deals with various aspects of phlebotomy such as – relevant equipment, storing and labeling samples, diseases, human body and organs etc. This is a short-term training program. Students who have passed 12th class are eligible to apply for admission.

Duration
Course duration depends upon factors such as – level of the training program (basic, intermediate or advanced level), course content, type of certification etc. On an average, the duration could be anywhere between 1-6 months.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility criteria associated with each training program has been mentioned next to it. Normally, these training programs are meant for 10th or 12th pass students. Eligibility criteria may vary from one institute to another though!

Many vocational training institutes and paramedical institutions are known to offer these programs in India. These programs are also being offered under State level skill development missions and programs.
