Traditionally, commerce stream has been associated with the banking sector. Back then, students hailing from other streams (Science and arts) rarely ventured into banking sector. This field was dominated by commerce stream candidates!   Things have changed now! Nowadays, anyone holding a Bachelor’s Degree is eligible to become a Bank PO! This means that students hailing from Science and Arts streams can also venture easily into banking sector!   Note: If you want to become a Specialist Officer (for example – IT Officer) in a Bank, you must hold a Degree relevant to that post (Information Technology Degree for the above mentioned post).   Why are banking jobs so popular, you may ask. 1 B.Com.

B.Com. stands for Bachelor of Commerce. It is a 3 years long undergraduate level program. This is the most popular course among 12th passed commerce stream students.

2 Bachelor of Economics

If you are passionate about economics, this course will be of help to you! Bachelor of Economics program is 3 years long. Again, it is a very popular course among 12th commerce passed students.

3 Bachelor of Finance and Accounting

This academic program is 3 years long. The course focuses on domains such as finance and accounting. It is an ideal course if you want to become a banker in the future!

4 Chartered Accountancy

CA course has strong ties with commerce stream. Many subjects present in CA training module are covered in 11th and 12th commerce classes. CAs are widely hired by banks for auditing and accounting purposes.

5 CMA

CMA stands for Certified Management Accountant. Like CA, CMA professionals are also hired by banks for accounting and auditing. You may also check – CS course.   Note: If you want to become a Bank PO, the minimum educational qualification required is – Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University/Institute. In order to get the job, you must crack the relevant entrance test (IBPS, bank-wise tests etc).
