CAT is a national level competitive examination. This examination is conducted by IIMs. IIMs are premier B-Schools in India. IIM stands for Indian Institute of Management. An IIM is an institute of national importance that offers PG level management education programs (MBA, PGDM and other programs).
The main aim of CAT examination is to facilitate admission of eligible candidates into PG level management programs (like MBA and PGDM) in IIMs across India. Apart from IIMs, numerous top B-Schools across India are known to accept CAT score for facilitating admission process.

CAT registration process consists of the following stages – primary registration, form-filling, payment of application fee and submission of application form. Come, let us take a closer look at each stage now –
Steps to register for CAT 2022
- Visit the official website of CAT (iimcat.ac.in).
- If you have not registered for CAT yet, click on ‘register’ button.
- Fill up the registration form by entering the following details – candidate’s name, date of birth, email address, country and mobile number.
- Click on ‘generate OTP’ button.
- Go through the declaration text and click on ‘I agree’ tab/button.
- Enter the captcha code/security pin.
- Click on ‘submit’ button.
- A candidate will receive his/her CAT user id and password via SMS and E-Mail.
- Registration process is complete.

Steps to fill CAT 2022 application form
- After completing registration process, visit the official website of CAT (iimcat.ac.in).
- You are a registered candidate now. So click on ‘login’ button.
- Access the login page, enter your user id and password.
- Click on ‘login’ button.
- Check the applicant details page and check your personal details.
- Click on the ‘go to application form’ link.
- Access the application page. This page consists of the following sections – personal details, academics, work experience, programmes, test city and payment.
- Fill up the personal details section by entering the following details – Candidate’s name, father’s/husband’s/guardian’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, gender, nationality, Aadhar card number, category, disability (if any) etc.
- Enter address information – address of residence, city/town, district, state/UT, country, pin-code etc.
- Enter contact information – primary email id, alternate email id, primary mobile number, emergency mobile number etc.
- Upload scanned image of your passport size photograph and signature.
- Click on ‘save and continue’ button.
- Enter academic details (10th class) – name of education board, year/month of passing, total marks, marks secured, aggregate percentage etc.
- Enter academic details (12th class or equivalent) – course type, maximum marks, marks secured, aggregate percentage etc.
- Enter Bachelor’s Degree details – pass status and whether you are studying in the final year of Bachelor’s Degree program or not.
- Enter Master’s Degree and other professional Degree details.
- Click on ‘save and continue’ button.
- Candidates who possess work experience must mention the following details – industry type, duration of work experience etc.
- Click on ‘save and continue’ button.
- Enter your choice of programmes.
- Click on ‘save and continue’ button.
- Enter your choice of test city.
- Click on ‘save and continue’ button.
- Select your preferred mode of payment and click on ‘make payment’ button.
- You will get confirmation message via email.
- Download your CAT application form and take its printout for further use/reference.
While filling up CAT registration and application form, a candidate must provide the following details –

A candidate may pay his/her application fee online. There are different payment modes to choose from – credit/debit cards, net banking, Paytm etc.

Guidelines for scanned images
While filling up the application form, a candidate is supposed to upload the following documents –
- Latest passport size photograph of the candidate
- Candidate’s signature specimen
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- PwD certificate (if applicable)

- All scanned images must be clear, not blurry.
- Dimension of photograph: 30 x 45mm.
- Dimension of signature: 80 x 35mm.
- Minimum image resolution (photograph and signature) should be 150px/inch.
- Upload your latest passport size photograph (not older than 6 months).
- Don’t wear cap/mask/sun-glass/dark glass while getting the photograph clicked.
- Signature specimen must be on white paper.
- Sign using black or blue inked pen only.
CAT 2022 Application Form Correction
Here are the steps involved in CAT application form correction process –
- Visit the official website of CAT (iimcat.ac.in).
- Search for ‘form correction’ link or tab and click on it.
- Enter your credentials (user id and password) and login.
- Modify details where required (details or scanned images).
- Click on ‘save’ button.
Primarily, form correction process has been provided to help applicants change or edit scanned images. It is not uncommon to see scanned image of a candidate’s photograph and/or signature specimen get rejected by the authorities. The form correction window has been created to help applicants change images on their application form. Apart from images, candidates are also allowed to edit certain details on the application form.
