Optometry Admission in India

The admission process depends upon the course you choose. In this case, let us consider popular courses like B.Optom., B.Sc. Optometry and M.Optom.

The optometry admission process may vary from one college to another. If you want to get into a government institute or reputed private institute, you must apply for a merit-based admission process. Under the merit-based admission process, seats are distributed among deserving and eligible candidates on the basis of their performance in the relevant entrance exam.

Some private colleges also carry out direct or donation-based admission processes. If an institute has access to a large number of vacant seats, they may choose to distribute these seats among interested and eligible applicants on a first come, first served basis. This is known as the direct admission process. Many private institutes also have management quota seats. These seats are utilized for the donation-based admission process.
