CLAT is a national level law entrance examination. This exam is conducted/managed by a NLU (National Law University) each year. The main aim of this exam is to facilitate admission of eligible candidates into UG and PG level law programs.

CLAT application process can be divided into the following sections –

CLAT 2022 Registration Process
- Visit the official website of CLAT (consortiumofnlus.ac.in).
- Search for register link/button on the website. Click on it.
- Registration page will pop-up.
- Fill up the form by entering the following details – name of the candidate and password.
- Enter a strong password and confirm it.
- Click on register button. You will receive an OTP via SMS.
- Enter the OTP and activate your account.
- Get ‘account activated’ message on the screen.
Registration process is complete now! Candidates may now sign in using their credentials (mobile number and password) and access CLAT application form. Let us check out the steps involved in this process –

After completing registration process, a candidate may use his/her credentials and sign in. He/she may then access the application form and fill it up.

Steps to fill CLAT application form
- Sign in using your mobile number and password.
- Go through the set of instructions and select the exam you are applying for (UG or PG).
- Application form will appear on screen. It consists of 5 main sections (personal information, communication details, qualifying examination details, preferences and reservation).
- Fill up each section of the application form. Click on the arrow button to toggle between each section of the form.
- Upload relevant documents (photograph, signature specimen, domicile certificate etc).
- After filling up all sections, click on ‘submit form’ button.
- The system will generate candidate’s application number. Your application status will be ‘submitted but payment pending’.
- Now, candidates have three options – edit their application form, delete the application form or make payment. Click on ‘make payment’ button to proceed.
- Pay the application fee and complete CLAT application process.
- Return to your dashboard. Application status should be ‘application submitted and paid’.
- View/download your fee receipt.
- Download the application form and take printout for further use/reference.
While filling up the application form, a candidate is supposed to enter the following details –
Details required
- Personal details: Name of the candidate (as shown in 12th board certificate), father’s name, mother’s name, gender, date of birth, nationality, category (must upload relevant document as proof).
- Communication details: Email id, mobile number, residence address, city/town, district, state and pin code.
- Qualifying examination details: Name of qualifying exam, name of board/university, pass status, year of passing, month of passing, marks secured etc.
- Preferences: Choice of test center and university.
Reservation details: University/institute-wise reservation preference of the candidate.
CLAT 2022 Application Fee

Candidates may pay the application fee online. They may pay through credit/debit cards, net banking, UPI or payment gateways. If you want to download previous year’ question papers, you may obtain them after paying 500 INR extra.
While filling up the application form, candidates are supposed to enter the following details – personal information, academic information, test preference etc. In order to simplify the form-filling process, applicants may keep the following documents/things ready –

While filling up the application form, candidates are supposed to upload the following scanned images –
- Latest passport size photograph of the candidate
- Signature specimen of the candidate
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- BPL certificate (if applicable)
Scanned images must satisfy the following conditions –

- Fill up the application for correctly. Revise it before submitting.
- Enter a valid email id while registering.
