B.Voc.: Everything you need to know about it

B.Voc. stands for Bachelor of Vocation. It is an undergraduate-level vocational training program. Looking from an academic level’s point of view, it is a Bachelor’s Degree course.   Here is a quick overview of the academic program –

The academic program is three years long. Students who have passed the 12th standard are eligible to apply for admission. Subject requirement/eligibility criteria may vary slightly from one B.Voc. course to another.   Each academic year of B.Voc. course is divided into two semesters. Each semester is six months long. Students must face an external/main examination at the end of each semester. Internal examinations are conducted by the college/institute/University at regular intervals.

B.Voc. course was introduced by the UGC. The UGC introduced this course with the aim of improving the quality of vocational education in India. This is a relatively new course.

B.Voc. course is different from other vocational training programs in a number of ways! For example, it is the only UG-level vocational course that offers Bachelor’s Degree certificates to candidates.

Unlike other vocational training programs, B.Voc. course also offers multiple entry and exit options. For ITI holders, Diploma holders and technicians with relevant work experience, the program offers multiple entry options.

The program also offers two exit options to candidates. On quitting the program after completing one year, a candidate will obtain a Diploma certificate. On quitting the program after completing two years, a candidate will obtain an Advanced Diploma certificate.
